Dad's Music

I'm not sure of the exact dates of my dad's songwriting endeavors. If I had to guess, it would have been from the late 1960s to the late 1990s, so about 30 years of off-and-on writing. I have a thick folder of his writing notes, lyrics, and chord progressions, and probably a few tapes of his recordings, which, unfortunately, were made using only a small cassette player microphone.
I'm probably biased, but I think he wrote some wonderful music—from thoughtful love songs to fun narratives. Dad had two very distinct songwriting modes: the storyteller who liked colorful, funny, working-class characters, and the reflective guy thinking about time, love, suffering, generosity, war, and what makes a worthwhile life. As the executor of his works, I've often thought about ways to re-record his music. When Suno AI came around, I thought I'd give it a shot and see what it could do, which basically amounts to uploading an MP3 file to a website and typing in a few commands.
I like some of the results, and it's been interesting to hear what my dad's music might have sounded like with a little more production.
